Singapore is one of the safest place to live in with a stable government, green environment and sound transport system. One will never get lost as you can easily find a public transport in this country. No doubt, Singapore has proved to be the top ten most liveable place in the world. However, there are a few things to look into to improve the life of Singaporeans.
In this century, almost everyone can afford to send their children to school. Most parents would send their children to well-known primary schools so to ensure proper education was given. I believe these parents want their children to grow up to become surgeons, dentist, lawyers, chairman etc. whom will bring home at a minimum of $6K monthly. Because of such ambitions, children were not given enough time to nurtur their creativity skills. They were forced to study and study till there's no time for things that will build their thinking skills. As time passed, some children become sick of school and decided to skip classes, lose concentration while others were just too narrow minded to develop creativity.
The lack of creativity and the spirit of 'kiasu' have caused a dip in number of successful entrepreneurs. From young most were taught not to lose and commit mistakes. This have in fact develop a new spirit of 'kiasi'. Like nowadays in the society, people do not want to lose out. Some still follow the practice of ancient chinese whereby they will keep some skills to themselves as their speciality. Besides, when it comes to taking responsibility, some people will avoid at all cause. This is the spirit of 'kiasi'. This is very harmful to the development of young Singaporeans. They will develop a mindset that mistake is intolerant in the society and hence, when they grew up and worked, they will not be tolerant to people who make mistakes. However, one should also know the severity of his mistake. Such severity like damaging company's name and causing huge loss of profit to the company cannot be tolerate. It reflects the responsiblity and reliability of the person.
In conclusion, I felt that Singapore should cultivate young Singaporeans with the correct mentality. It's alright to make mistake and learnt from it. I personally felt that it is faster to learn from mistakes. Be kind, give people a chance to learn!
